Just about all of us have had our lives disrupted by the corona virus outbreak. Since state governments have ordered restrictions on people gathering in groups, the live entertainment business has been forced to change its plans for an indefinite period of time. Events have been cancelled, which means less income and less exposure for many of us who perform live shows.
The best most of us can do in these current circumstances is to increase our online exposure in hopes of hooking more clients for events that will hopefully happen “when all this is over”. Some magicians are offering online magic lessons to make a little money. Some are monetizing their YouTube channels. Some are getting really creative about putting on live streaming performances!
So what is Flabbergast doing in these shut-in days? Well, more time at home means more opportunity to catch up on projects that have been put off for literally years. My home office has become a piled-up junk room, full of disorganized files, miscellaneous collections of props and equipment with no discernible order. Not even enough room to move about comfortably. So what do you think I’ve been doing these past few weeks? That’s right! Taking out the trash and recycling, making donations to Goodwill, selling off my more valuable “junk”, and otherwise clearing out space. My immediate goal is to make my office more efficient for business and show preparation, as well as to create a small video production studio where I can produce more YouTube content, and perhaps stage some streaming shows!
Want to see how I’m doing with my home studio? Follow me on Instagram or Facebook, where I share updates on my progress. Also, subscribe to my YouTube channel, where I will be posting the videos I make as the studio gets better and better!
I look forward to seeing you live and in person, but until that day comes, let’s keep in touch online!
Magically Yours,
Flabbergast
